Maple BBQ Smoked Sausage Bites (Oven-Baked)

These sticky, sweet, smoky sausage bites are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. The simple chopstick trick helps them cook evenly and get perfectly caramelized on both sides. Made with everyday smoked sausage and a maple BBQ glaze, this easy appetizer is perfect for game day, parties, or anytime you need a quick, irresistible bite.
If you don’t have maple syrup on hand, honey works just as well — I’ve made it both ways and they’re delicious either way.
Ingredients
• 2 rings smoked sausage (about 13–14 oz each)
• 1 cup barbecue sauce
• 2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
• ¼ cup maple syrup OR honey
• Parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions (Oven Method)
1. Prep the Sausage (Chopstick Trick)
Place each sausage ring between two chopsticks or wooden skewers. Using a sharp knife, slice about ¾ of the way through the sausage, stopping at the chopsticks so you don’t cut all the way through.
2. Cut into Bites
Go back and cut the sausage into about 1-inch pieces.
3. Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, stir together barbecue sauce, Dijon mustard, and maple syrup or honey.
4. Coat the Sausage
Toss sausage bites with about ½ cup of the sauce. Reserve the remaining sauce for later.
5. Bake & Flip for Even Browning
Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper.
Arrange sausage in a single layer.
Bake for 9–10 minutes, then remove from oven and flip the sausage bites over.
Return to oven and bake another 9–10 minutes, until browned and sticky.
6. Finish with More Sauce
Remove from oven and toss or brush with about ¼ cup of the reserved sauce.
7. Serve
Garnish with parsley if desired. Serve warm with toothpicks and extra sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
• Honey can be used 1:1 in place of maple syrup.
• Flipping halfway through ensures both sides caramelize evenly.
• Great for feeding a crowd — easy to double!
