Method
Prep the Sausage (Chopstick Trick)
- Place each sausage ring between two chopsticks or wooden skewers. Using a sharp knife, slice about ¾ of the way through the sausage, stopping at the chopsticks so you don’t cut all the way through.
Cut into Bites
- Go back and cut the sausage into about 1-inch pieces.
Make the Sauce
- In a small bowl, stir together barbecue sauce, Dijon mustard, and maple syrup or honey.
Coat the Sausage
- Toss sausage bites with about ½ cup of the sauce. Reserve the remaining sauce for later.
Bake & Flip for Even Browning
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Arrange sausage in a single layer.
- Bake for 9–10 minutes, then remove from oven and flip the sausage bites over.
- Return to oven and bake another 9–10 minutes, until browned and sticky.
Finish with More Sauce
- Remove from oven and toss or brush with about ¼ cup of the reserved sauce.
Serve
- Garnish with parsley if desired. Serve warm with toothpicks and extra sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
• Honey can be used 1:1 in place of maple syrup.
• Flipping halfway through ensures both sides caramelize evenly.
• Great for feeding a crowd — easy to double!
