Buttermilk Biscuits & Sausage Gravy

Ingredients
  

  • Buttermilk Biscuits
  • Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 cup + 2 Tbsp buttermilk
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • Oil or butter for dipping
Sausage Gravy
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper adjust to taste
  • 4 cups milk

Method
 

Instructions for Biscuits:
  1. Preheat oven to 500°F.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cut in butter until mixture looks like crumbs.
  4. Stir baking soda into buttermilk; add to dry ingredients and stir just until combined.
  5. Turn out on a floured surface, knead lightly, roll out, and cut biscuits.
  6. Dip each biscuit in oil to coat.
  7. Bake 8–10 minutes until golden (watch closely!).
Instructions for Gravy:
  1. In a skillet, brown sausage and break it into crumbles.
  2. Add salt and pepper, stir to coat sausage.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the sausage, mix until flour is absorbed.
  4. Pour in 2 cups of milk, stirring until thickened.
  5. Add remaining 2 cups of milk and stir until smooth and creamy.
  6. Simmer 3–5 minutes, stirring often, until gravy reaches desired thickness.
