Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • 3 –4 cloves garlic minced
  • 8 –10 tomatoes cut in half
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil optional
  • ½ cup water or beef broth
  • ½ tsp sugar optional
  • 1 Tbsp butter optional
  • Parmesan cheese for serving
  • Cooked spaghetti

Method
 

  1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onion and cook until softened.
  3. Stir in garlic.
  4. Add tomatoes, seasonings, and broth.
  5. Cover and simmer 20–30 minutes.
  6. Remove skins as they loosen.
  7. Mash tomatoes into a chunky sauce.
  8. Simmer uncovered until thickened.
  9. Adjust seasonings and serve over spaghetti.
